The Torres brothers and Roser Torras win the Sakata Awards

The first edition of the Sakata Awards already has some names. The Torres brothers won the Sabor-Bimi award, while Roser Torres won the Sentidos Award.

The jury decided to award the Sabor-Bimi prize to the charismatic twins Sergio and Javier Torres for their passion for gastronomy and their contribution to promoting Bimi broccolini in the kitchen. A way of working, being and thinking that they knew how to convey on their programme Torres en la Cocina, on TVE, where they encourage healthy eating and the consumption of seasonal fruits and vegetables. They regularly work with brassicas such as broccoli, cauliflower and Bimi.

Roser Torras, considered one of the most influential entrepreneurs in Spanish gastronomy, won the Sentidos Award, created with the aim of recognising the work of communication professionals in promoting healthy cooking in the media.
Known among great chefs as “la mamma”, Roser Torras is the soul of GRS Produccions de Gastronomia, a company that organises events, with 7 Caníbales magazine as the most influential digital leader in the food sector. She is also the director of one of the biggest gastronomy congresses, San Sebastián Gastronómika.

The Sakata Awards Ceremony, chaired by Martín Berasategui, will be held on 24 October at 12 pm at the Sakata Seed Ibérica stand at Fruit Attraction in Madrid (Hall 7 stand D11).

During the event, which will feature a host of surprises, the winner of the Semilla Award will also be revealed, based on the Bimi tapas contest, with the semifinal taking place in Almería on 4 October. 9 semifinalists will compete in the city’s central market for a place in the final, which will take place in Ifema. The winner will enjoy a practical training course at the restaurant Lasarte-Oria by the prestigious chef Martín Berasategui.
