PERU lands in “Fruit Attraction 2018” with its Super Foods

Perú is again present in the sixth consecutive edition of “Fruit Attraction”, the leader trade fair of the fresh fruit and vegetable sector, to be held in Madrid between the 23rd and 25th of October 2018, in Hall 10 (D 07).

Under the Super Foods Perú campaign, visitors to the fair may enjoy an eye-catching exhibition of the main fresh fruit and vegetable products of Peru, that has become established in the global and European market, such as: avocado, mango, asparagus, grapes, blueberries, pomegranates, tangerines, strawberries, pineapples, lemon, onions, garlics, ginger and olives; organic products such as: banana, cocoa and special coffees; with regard to dehydrated products, there will be chilli products, such as paprika, rocoto, hot yellow pepper, silt pepper; several herbs, such as: oregano; Andean grains, such as quinoa, chia and amaranth; Peruvian legumes, such as Canary beans, Castile beans; Special corns, such as: giant white, purple and chulpi, haricot beans. Canned fine vegetables such as: artichokes, green white asparagus and piquillo peppers. Peru is a leading or relevant supplier of many of these products to Spain and the EU.


According to the Association of agricultural trade associations of Peru (AGAP), other products with a high potential for exporting to Europe include: new varieties of seedless grapes, easy-to-peel tangerines, diverse berries, such as raspberries, blackberries, cherries, aguaymanto or goldenberry, exotic fruits, such as granadilllas, figs, tunas and passion fruit; and vegetables such as: courgettes, turmeric or turmericentre form, together with a wide range of ethnic products, the exportable supply of Peru Superfoods to the world.


The latest data show the unstoppable advance of Peruvian export products in Spain, with a growth of 12.45% in the last year 2017 in the entry of agro-food products as compared to 2016. The fruits with the highest growth were avocados, blueberries, asparagus, mango and fresh grapes. Other products that also experienced a marked growth were the local varieties of corn, cocoa and turmeric.


Peru’s stand in Fruit Attraction located in hall 10 D 07 is organised by the Commercial Office of the Embassy of Peru in Spain and is supported by MINCENTUR/PROMPERU and the main private associations of the country, such as ADEX – Association of Exporters, AGAP – Association of Trade Associations of Agricultural Producers and Exporters of Peru and ProCitrus, among others.
